Heyy butterflies, how is your weekend going? As you can see from the title that today is about clubs and involvment. While in high school I was in 11 different clubs and 1 in college, so I will tell you a little about each one and I will try to keep it as short as I can.
High School:
1. FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America): This club is mainly for those who are going into a business related field. There are competitions that you can compete in, such as Area, State and Nationals. I went to nationals when it was held in Nashville, TN (my favorite state!!), it was sooo much fun! I was secretary and treasurer and historian.
2. FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) This club is for those of you who are going to into a family consumer science field, like for example I am going for Hospitality Management so that is a family consumer science area. Just like FBLA, FCCLA has area, state and nationals competitions that are just as fun. I was vice president and secretary and treasurer.
3. Cultural Arts: is a club where you want to learn more about different art related things such as plays, music, food, etc. In this club we went on one or two field trips a year to go shopping, out to eat (usually food that corresponding with the play that was happening later that day. For example if it was an Italian play we ate Italian food,) then we would see a play.
4. Foreign Language Club: For this club it was just a club for those who were in a foreign language class, we never did anything so I cannot tell you much about it.
5. Student Council: At my high school student council helped with the Snowball dance where all the proceeds went to the local firehouse to help for Toys for Tots. I was Secretary and Treasure my senior year.
6. Yearbook: This is pretty much self explanatory really since we helped design the yearbook and take the pictures.
7. National Honor Society: Is for students who had a 3.0 GPA or higher, we helped with blood drives and the polar run.
8. Science Club: basically you just helped clean up trash around the school, recycle printer ink or cell phones to gain points to go on the end of the year trip. The trip usually involves going to St. Louis to the zoo and shopping.
9. FCA: Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Even though I did not play sports in high school anyone was allowed to join. I never did particpate much. Basically they held meetings at night that included: prayer, message and games.
10. ETS (Educational Talent Search): This is a club for those whose parent's do not make much money, so the kids meet twice a month with an advisor (was once a month when I was in high school) to get information about FAFSA, college and other important things for the future. The usually have a end of the year trip where they went to places such as Nashville, St. Louis, or Chicago and other places.
11. Scholastic Bowl: is a competition club. You compete against other schools in a game where you are asked random questions and you have to buzz in and give the answer.
College:
1. SSS (Student Support Services): SSS is just like ETS but for college students. SSS has a meeting once a month to help plan end of the year trip, fundraisers and get volunteers to help out at college events. I was vice president and historian my first year. My second year I was president.
If you have any questions about the clubs please send me a message or comment on this post.
Well butterflies, this is the end of the post for today. I hope you guys have a good week.
